Hello Daily Well friends! My name is Amy Baker, and I’m so happy to be joining you here at the Daily Well. I’ve been teaching Barre and Mat Pilates at Urban Yoga since 2012, and I’m excited to share this powerful and accessible modality with you.
Together, we’ll strengthen deep core muscles while toning the arms, back, legs, and glutes in 30–45 minute classes, offered twice a week. My intention is to create sessions you can enjoy on their own or string together later for a full hour of movement, if you choose.
As we begin, we’ll primarily use our own body weight in both standing and floor work. As the practice progresses, I’ll invite you to incorporate props—but these are always optional. You can absolutely practice without them. The work is in the body.
Links to the props I personally use are provided, should you wish to begin building your collection.
Music is never required, but it can add a layer of fun and help support the tempo of our practice. I’ll share links to my playlists for you to use at home if you’d like. I use Apple Music, and the song selections are also available on Spotify.
I can’t wait to move with you.
Optional props:
- Light ankle/wrist weights between 1-3 lbs. (these are 1.2 lb)
- Handheld 3lb weight
- Pilates ball
- Resistance bands or strap – Fabric bands – Rubber bands
- Massage ball for post class fascia release
- Yoga mat
- Blanket or pillow for floor work, this just makes the work a little more comfortable on the body.
- A sturdy surface/wall or chair for balance
- Yoga block
